Hard at work in Nairobi
Anyone who's read more than a couple posts on my blog probably knows that most of my international birding happens by way of my job. My field of work has absolutely nothing to do with birds or nature (although if anyone wants to collaborate on a study of the economic impact of birding in the developing world, hit me up), but it does take me to many places that just so happen to have good birds nearby. My work is entirely focused on the East Asia and the Pacific region, which has been great for Asia birding but it does mean that my world birding is mainly done between the US and Southeast Asia, with occasional vacations to Central America . This spring was the first time that my job took my somewhere besides Asia: I was asked to help facilitate a conference on rural childcare that was being held in Nairobi, Kenya.
